The Hotel La Regence is a chalet style hotel surrounded by the Mont Blanc Massif in the village of Plateau d'Assy at an altitude of 1,000 metres, and 22 kilometres from the town of Chamonix. The 25 guestrooms are presented in a simple country style with hair dryers, telephones and televisions; some have balconies with views of Mont Blanc.
The restaurant offers a range of regional and international dishes with specialities including traditional home made desserts from Savole. Guests can relax with a book or watch television and read complimentary newspapers in the hotel's lounge. The French national sport of petanque can be learned and played in the garden and multilingual staff can advise on local sightseeing opportunities. Four kilometres away is the Plaine Joux Ski and Sport Resort. The nearest slope is five kilometres from the hotel, where there are six ski lifts and green, red and blue slopes. Guests can reach the slopes via the ski bus, which stops in front of the post office 50 metres from the hotel and runs every hour from 8:30 AM to 6 PM. Geneva airport is 70 kilometres from the hotel. Geneva Airport railway station is 300 meters from the Departures and Arrivals floors; trains stop at Geneva Cornavin (city centre and run every 20 minutes. Aero Ski Bus also provides services from Geneva Airport to many of the French ski stations. The airport shuttle goes to Sallanches, which is about 13 kilometres from the hotel. This is also the location of the nearest train station. A typical taxi fare from the station at Sallanches is 24 Euros, whereas from the airport, the price for a taxi is approximately 150 Euros.
